ENG vs PAK: Razaullah Makes All-Time Test Record Of Most Sixes On Test Debut

Pakistan’s Razaullah produced a stunning batting display on his Test debut against England, turning a difficult situation into a memorable personal milestone. The fast bowler showed remarkable confidence with the bat during Pakistan’s second innings of the third Test in Birmingham, smashing nine sixes in an explosive knock.
With that performance, Razaullah equalled the all-time record for the most sixes by a batter on Test debut, matching New Zealand great Tim Southee’s record of nine sixes, which was set against England in 2008.
Razaullah Lights Up His Test Debut
Razaullah walked into the middle with Pakistan under serious pressure. After being dismissed for just 133 in their first innings, Pakistan needed a strong response in the second innings to stay alive in the contest.
The debutant responded in spectacular fashion.
Batting at No. 9, Razaullah scored 81 runs from only 63 deliveries. His innings included four boundaries and nine huge sixes, with his fearless approach putting England’s bowlers under unexpected pressure.
His aggressive batting was particularly impressive considering the quality of England’s bowling attack and the difficult position Pakistan found themselves in.

Nine Sixes Equal Tim Southee’s Record
Razaullah’s nine sixes put him alongside Tim Southee at the top of the list for the most sixes hit in a Test debut innings.
Southee achieved the feat during his Test debut against England in Napier in 2008. The New Zealand all-rounder also scored a memorable 77 not out while striking nine sixes.
Razaullah has now matched that remarkable record more than 18 years later. However, unlike Southee, the Pakistani debutant did not remain unbeaten, as he was eventually dismissed for 81.
The achievement becomes even more impressive because Razaullah came to the crease at No. 9 rather than being a specialist top-order batter.
Fastest Fifty By A Pakistan Test Debutant
The 21-year-old did not stop at the six-hitting record. Razaullah also created another piece of Pakistan cricket history by completing his half-century in only 43 balls.
That made it the fastest fifty by a Pakistan batter on Test debut. He surpassed the previous mark held by Faheem Ashraf, who scored a 52-ball fifty against Ireland in 2018.
His aggressive approach gave Pakistan crucial momentum at a stage when the team desperately needed runs.
Razaullah And Mohammad Abbas Rescue Pakistan
Razaullah’s innings became even more important because of his partnership with Mohammad Abbas. The pair added 121 runs for the ninth wicket, helping Pakistan recover from a precarious position and post 449 in their second innings.
The partnership gave Pakistan a significant lead and forced England to bat again in the match.
Although Razaullah missed out on a maiden Test century, his 81-run knock proved that he could make an impact with both bat and ball.
A Test Debut To Remember
Razaullah’s debut had already attracted attention after he dismissed experienced England batter Joe Root earlier in the match. His explosive batting performance then provided another reason for cricket fans to remember his first Test appearance.
While Pakistan ultimately struggled during the England series, Razaullah emerged as one of the bright spots. His nine sixes on Test debut, record-breaking fifty and fearless 81-run innings have given Pakistan another exciting young cricketer to watch.
The ENG vs PAK series may have been challenging for Pakistan, but Razaullah’s remarkable debut has certainly provided a memorable individual highlight.
