MMOexp Diablo IV: Console players face even more hurdles
Unlike traditional battle passes that follow a linear progression, the Reliquary system divides seasonal rewards into multiple themed tracks. Players earn Favor Tokens by Diablo IV Gold playing the game, which can then be spent to unlock cosmetic items and other rewards in these Reliquaries. The system promises greater agency by letting players select the rewards they want. Yet every item can also be purchased directly with Platinum, the premium currency, and the game’s UI heavily promotes spending Platinum over using earned tokens.
Reddit user Loika shed light on some of the system’s flaws with a detailed post that went viral within the community. One notable example is an armor set that can be redeemed for either 15 Favor Tokens or 750 Platinum-about $7.50. The UI places the Platinum purchase button in the most prominent spot without any confirmation prompt, making it easy for players to accidentally spend money.
Console players face even more hurdles. A Reddit post highlighted that when claiming rewards using a controller, the button mappings shift mid-process. The same button used initially to claim a reward switches to buying with Platinum after a menu transition, increasing the risk of unintended purchases. This confusing behavior was confirmed by GameSpot during testing.
The pricing model adds to the frustration. Premium Reliquaries can be purchased individually for 500 Platinum each or all three for 1,500 Platinum. There is also a “Battle Pass Bundle” selling all three for 1,000 Platinum, which is a better deal. However, buying even a single Reliquary individually before purchasing the bundle locks the player out of the discounted price for the rest, forcing them to pay full price.
Additionally, the Deluxe Bundle costs 2,800 Platinum-nearly $28-and includes the same armor set from the standard bundle, along with a pet and wing cosmetics. Many players feel the extras are insufficient for Diablo 4 Items for sale
the price hike, contributing to concerns about value.
