MedCerts has teamed up with eHBCU, the nation's first digital HBCU consortium, to expand access to career training and certifications via an affordable, online model that marries workforce readiness with HBCU community and culture.

This collaboration combines MedCerts’ experience in delivering scalable certification programs with eHBCU’s newly launched national portal, aiming to reduce barriers for learners who often struggle to attend traditional campuses while balancing work, family, or location constraints.

Key Details of the Partnership

  • Through this alliance, students accessing the eHBCU portal can enroll in MedCerts’ high-demand certification programs in healthcare, IT, and allied industries blending credentialing with job relevance.

  • The coursework is developed in close consultation with employers, ensuring that graduates possess practical skills that meet industry needs.

  • Over its 16-year history, MedCerts has helped more than 100,000 students complete programs and transition into careers across healthcare, IT, and other sectors, highlighting its legacy in workforce development.

  • eHBCU’s platform lets learners apply once and access multiple HBCU programs, making education more seamless and accessible. Incorporating MedCerts into this ecosystem is one of the consortium’s first moves into online vocational training.

Jennifer Kolb, VP of Partnerships & Workforce Development at MedCerts, remarked:

“Too many students have drive but lack access. Our collaboration with eHBCU creates a clear, affordable path into today’s workforce.”

Terry Jeffries, Executive Director of eHBCU, added:

“This partnership removes barriers to education. Students can pursue high-demand careers online while experiencing HBCU culture and community.”

Why This Move Matters

  • It helps democratize access to vocational training and job-oriented certifications for students who may be underserved by traditional campus models.

  • By rooting the partnership in HBCU heritage, it bolsters cultural connection while offering modern flexibility.

  • The employer-driven curriculum increases the likelihood that graduates are workforce-ready and able to transition quickly.

  • It strengthens the ecosystem of digital education, showing how institutions and certification providers can converge to scale impact.
