Paris Junior High Elevates Aspirations with Hot Air Balloon Launch
Paris Junior High School commenced the 2025–2026 school year with an inspiring event that left a lasting impression on students and staff alike. On Wednesday, September 10, the school celebrated the launch of its Career and Technical Education (CTE) program with a spectacular hot air balloon ascent. The event was designed to ignite students' imaginations and encourage them to pursue their dreams with determination.
Principal Kristi Callihan and Instructional Coach Seanda Gilbert led the ceremonial flight, rising into the sky as hundreds of students counted down in unison. The balloon's ascent symbolized the school's theme for the year: “Dare to Dream,” a message crafted by Bridget Crain for the Hospitality & Tourism program. This initiative aims to inspire students to set ambitious goals and actively work towards achieving them. parisisd.net
The hot air balloon was prepared by Paris natives Amie and Josh Cato, experienced balloonists who, along with volunteers, provided students with a behind-the-scenes look at the process of inflating and launching a hot air balloon. The demonstration offered a hands-on lesson in science, teamwork, and the power of community involvement.
As the balloon soared into the clear blue sky, many students stood in awe, witnessing not just a balloon but a powerful symbol of limitless possibility. The event served as a reminder that with vision, effort, and courage, dreams can truly take flight.
This memorable occasion marked the beginning of an academic year filled with opportunities for growth and exploration, setting a positive tone for the months ahead.
